Could your technology work for floating wind?

We are looking for solutions to technical challenges facing the floating offshore wind industry on behalf of the Floating Wind Joint Industry Project (JIP). If you are a private company, not-for-profit organisation or academic institution with a relevant technology, you could be eligible to receive up to £250k in Scottish Government grant funding in order to progress the development of this technology.

The competition has a particular emphasis on technologies that could offer solutions to the following challenges:

  • Challenge 1: Technologies that will allow effective and safe major component exchange offshore.
  • Challenge 2: Technologies that will allow cost effective and safe disconnection and re-connection operations when turbine foundations are towed to port.
  • Challenge 3: Technology that will allow cost effective, safe and reliable monitoring and inspection for offshore wind farms.
  • Challenge 4: Methods, materials or technologies that allow easier and safe installation and reduce maintenance requirements of mooring systems, thereby reducing overall cost.
  • Miscellaneous category: Other technologies that will reduce the cost of floating offshore wind, such as reducing installation times, improving ancillary hardware used with export cables, allowing serial fabrication or reducing maintenance requirements. Plus, other technologies related to floating wind operations and maintenance (including port and logistical requirements).

Deadline for entries Tuesday 5 November 2019.
