Why did you become an Ambassador?
I passionately believe in giving something back to the community and in Corporate Responsibility. Furthermore, I feel STEM is absolutely critical to the long term sustainability of the UK economy as well as the success of the corporation I work in. Therefore, helping to inspire the next generation of Scientists, Technologists, Engineers, and Mathematicians is something I find both very enjoyable and imperative.

How much time do you commit to Ambassador Activities?
Every year I commit dozens of hours into Corporate Responsibility related work. I struggle to keep track of the total hours I invest! Moreover, a large part of the investment is in the education area therefore I would conservatively estimate fifty hours (at least).

What activities have you been involved in?
TeenTech’s, Energise Your Future, Mock Interviews, Business of Enterprise, School Visits, Teacher Networking, and INSPIRE - to name just a few.

What do you feel were the positive outcomes for the pupils?
Good question - there are many which are diverse. I think above all it helps give pupils a flavour for the world of work. It helps prepare them for their future lives as professionals with experiences that are deeper and broader than purely classroom based learning - its academic enrichment.

What do you feel were the positive outcomes for yourself?
I feel learning is something often associated with academia but in truth learning is something that you should do lifelong. Thus, STEM related events give me the valuable opportunity to practice and hone soft skills, organization, coaching & mentoring (and many other skills) really just a function of taking part, which is in itself valuable professional development.
